With all eyes on the International Programs and Studies Office and its sponsoring units, students have looked forward to this year’s release of week-long educational, cultural, and recreational activities that aim to create interest in the global community. Starting on Monday, April 8th and ending on Saturday, April 14th, this year’s lineup will not fall short of its theme: Bringing Together Our Campus, Our Community, Our World.
Study Abroad Fair

Want to learn how you can have class in the Colloseum in Rome or volunteer with school children in Costa Rica? Drop in at the Study Abroad Fair to learn about opportunities to study abroad during winter, summer, semester or academic year terms. Get info on financial aid and the numerous scholarships that can help make your study abroad dream an affordable reality. International Cuisine at Bevier Cafe and Red Herring

Feeling peckish? Pop in for an international meal at the Bevier Café and the Red Herring restaurant! Bring your friends and family to try international cuisine. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new, or, come in and have a bite and create a new different-culture comfort food!

A Taste of Language
Wednesday April 10th 6-8pm University YMCA
Want to learn a language but don’t have the time to take a class? Stop by the A Taste of Language event at the University YMCA for a chance to pick up a bit of another language while getting a chance to network. Get exposed to a language in an informal social setting, or come to the two mini-classes available for a more focused look at one language in particular. Don’t miss this chance to learn a little of Portuguese, French, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, Chinese, Quechua, and Haitian Creole!
2nd Annual Travel Around the World
Friday April 12th 11am Engineering Quad Area
“It’s a really important space to learn about other countries and other cultures and other traditions,” said Pilar Equez to the Daily Illini last year at the event’s pilot on the central Quad.
This year, travel the tented area between Everitt Lab and the Engineering Hall to check out booths representing different nationalities and cultures from around the world. Have a culturally rounded morning getting to meet new people and broaden your cultural horizons. Try a dish, join in a dance, learn about a culture, and most importantly, get a stamp in your *Travel Around the World passport* to win prizes! (they look like real passports!)
